|PRATLAW| broadcasts: This is where I would buy my shoes if I had the money and my foot was bigger than the 13s I wear. There are of course a bunch of places to buy shoes but these I know and would and do trust to braodcast: An Atlanta tradition is Friedman's it is a great place to find shoes over size 13. Everyone should also know about the White Boot Company: they will build you a boot to fit your exact foot and it will become your favorite pair of boots for decades ~ just get them resoled over and over. I like the fact that the packer boot gives tremendous ankle support, yet is flexible and comfortable: here is a link about what I am talking about ~ INFO. I am also a big fan of Allen Edmonds shoes: they are fantastic and like White's Boots, can be resoled over and over again. To sum up: I would go to Friedman's for training shoes, get several pairs of White boots and several pairs of Allen Edmonds for dress and casual and resole and recondition them for years to come.

Clothing Picks by R K Prater
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: Stores to buy from that I really like: Schnees J L Powell || Orvis || Eddie Bauer || LL Bean || Territory Ahead || Brooks Brothers || I will add more but basically if you can't find it in these stores you don't want it. Again, there are some other good stores but these are great and have your sizes.
It's Porsche for big guys
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: test drive a couple of them and see how roomy they are. Porsche builds a car engine and drive train to go 500,000 miles with good maintenance. Think about that. You are buying a vehicle that will give you 15 to 20 years of good service. They are roomy and comfortable. The cayman pictured here is a great ride for 2, the 911 has a jump seat for touring and carrying a friend or two across town.

Footwork is what its about at the Next Level
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: Footwork is what it is about. You know what I think of RR, now here is a guy who has his feet moving the way they need to move in the paint: Louie Amundson: . Look for him to move into a starting role somewhere. Wish the Hawks would take a look at him. Glen Davis, this guy and Horford: that is the making of a a team that could challenge the Celts. Glen Davis should take a lesson. He would not have a concussion today if he had better footwork...and now about DH's flying elbows ~ I have not seen the refs allow that kind of crap in years...so who's or what's allowing it? Hmmmmmm.

MAKE IT A RULE OF THE HOUSE
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: Laptops should never be brought bed ~ unless you're in bed by yourself. The Wifey had the audacity to come to bed last night with one! I was watching the Eastern Conference Semi-Final and I rolled over and dozed off listening to the refs give shave the game to the Magic. By the time Sugar put her computer on the nightstand the Celtics had beaten the Magic and Refs and tied the game ... but I was out. This morning we agreed to make the new house rule.

OCHKAM'S RAZOR
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: Ockham's Razor should be the foundation of everyone's thought pattern. It is in english, "All things being equal, the simplest answer is always the correct answer". In Latin it is: entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem. You can build everything in your life around the maxim. Of course the devil in the details is what determines and who determines when all things are equal? Your personal analysis will be much better of any and everything you are making a decision about no matter who it involves if you will apply the Razor to the analysis.
Its Going To Always Be About Hard Work
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: Rajon Rondo, Jordan Farmer, Glen Davis, Kevin Garnett, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Cooper, Steve Nash are but a few examples from basketball. Greg Maddox, Tony Gwynn, Rod Carew, Pedro Martinez, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Chipper Jones, are but a few examples from Baseball. Ray Lewis, Tom Brady, ... All of them have hard work in common. They each raised their games after making it to the pro level and each of them did it by nothing more than hard work and preparation. Preparation to me starts with a global review of each and every facet of the endeavor at hand. I remember reading about Tony Gwynn watching film for hours, studying the pitchers he was facing, all in his quest to break .400 and he almost did several times. This year I am most impressed with the elevation of the basketball games of Rajon Rondo and Glen Davis but then I am a fan of the Celtics, always was and always will be. I remember Michael Cooper practicing his three point shot the year they beat the Celtics. They could not stop McHale's physical size and condor arms but they had the secret weapon that year, Cooper's outside shot and he burned the Celtics and the Lakers took the title. If there is a stellar example of hard work, there are many. Brooks Robinson and Chase Utley easily come to mind but has there ever been a better example than Dustin Pedroia? The next level requires study and that to be approved. If you wonder why a wonderkin like Jeff Francouer hasn't busted out in a big way, Ockam's Razor shines like a light on the inquiry: he just hasn't put in the work and study. Will he? Who knows, its always going to be up to him.

THE VEHICLE FOR YOU|FAMILY|FRIENDS
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: if you get a huge contract or bonus and need a vehicle, get a used one first. I like ebay. Use your lawyer to buy it. If you are over 6' I would recommend: Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Cadillac, Lincoln. Land Rovers are tight and I don't recommend them for anyone over 6'1''. I like the Cayenne and you can get a good one for a decent price ~ under $35,000. Consider a good used 911, tiptronic not manual. I also like the Mercedes C class and the BMW 5 series and the Cadillac and Lincolns. No Bentleys etcetera. Bentleys and exotics are not great engineering and are not as well made as listed here. A nice 2004 911 Carerra tiptronic will be a favorite of yours and when you sign your long term veteran contract you will trade your good old dependable one in for a new one. Same thing with a Cayenne, or a Bimmer coupe M5
This is a great car and a good one for mom and dad. Buy certified used on ebay. They are incredibly reliable and easy to maintain and they are great travelers.
Another great ride for mom or dad. Buy certified on ebay.
Reliable and comfortable, a great travel vehicle.

This is the ride for siblings and friends. No luxury vehicle for them but they should get leather and a good vehicle to go watch you play.
Get A Lawyer ASAP
|PRATLAW| broadcasts: listen to your trusted advisors but also get yourself a good lawyer early on. Your lawyer can set up countless things that would cost you substantially more through an agent or friend. Paralegals through your personal attorney can do automatic things like paying bills etcetera at very low rates. Your lawyer should be experienced and carry malpractice insurance. Ask to see his or her current policy and make that an annual thing to review. Your lawyer should review your contract with an agent, all contracts your agent presents, and all contracts with friends and family.
